You know winter camps aren’t too bad, they actually give me alot more freedom to teach how I would like to rather than having the co-teachers insist on me using the PPP. On the contrary, I’ve had spectacular success. Additionally, the number of students who come to the class has been steadily climbing, the number even spiked up to 7 students, even some who aren’t enrolled in my class but it is really good to see people who are willing to take my class – I take my teaching seriously, just wish my co-teachers could see it in action.
I love this map the students came up with, notice that there is no lack of Familymarts, Paris B, 7-11, etc. No idea comes to mind as to why the Korean classroom is colder inside than it is outside. I have full control and I even close the windows, but the students are freezing. Usually, I try to get to class 15 minutes earlier to turn on the heaters but that doesn’t seem to help a whole lot.
There was also this guy in Gangnam.
I manipulate Youtube tags/titles every chance I get to score more hits – just gotta fit “sexy” in somewhere. There is another video of him somewhere in my hard drive but I am too lazy to search around for it.
Also I found out that Jesus has been in Gangnam. At first I was puzzled because the thought that maybe Jesus actually had been in a place called Bongzi came to mind but a quick Google confirmed my previous state.
By the way,I don’t really like slacking on the quality and thought I put into either my writing or videos, and part of the reason I haven’t been writing as much is because now I have time to make videos – and editing/shooting a video can take alot alot of time. So, the recent influx of video posts is really that, but I know once the semester begins again I will probably be writing alot more since its one of the few things I can do in between classes, plus one of the things I dearly enjoy doing. Something about that morning ritual of blog reading, RSS feeds, and twitter that really makes my day.
Though…looking back at some of the more recent posts though – I’d say I have a ton of rewording and editing to do. Forgive me dear readers, I am not normally this sloppy, nor do I write when my emotions have a hold of me, but I simply don’t have the luxury of time on my side, blogging or videos – there can only be one at any given time.
Additionally, my Youtube has been growing exponentially, I can thank Hyunwoo Sun from TTMIK for that. His retweets of my videos have got me a ton of new subscribers. They nearly doubled in these last 2 weeks. Its really nice to see people who are interested in my videos. There is just so much to say that has happened that I have absolutely no idea what to do or where to begin. My goal is 200 subscribers – I want that Youtube banner!
Those numbers are steadily climbing which makes me quite happy. Either I am writing or blogging, or making videos. There is one problem though, that is, the more views I get, the higher the chances my humor or way of looking at things will upset someone. So I feel myself being forced to kind of cater to the viewers, particularly Korean ones – as they seem the most sensitive to just about everything. I do, however, want to remain as I was when I first started, sure some things changed in my views and they always will, but the willingness to write and report about things that other people will not – is still there and is not going anywhere.
Oh and I can’t forget to mention that now I have some business cards. There’s a reason why I got them in the first place. Most of the time when I am out making videos – I DO ask if I can tape them except the hookers in Itaewon and whenevers they seem unsure, I show them the card and people light up! Usually asking to be in the video, so having something that looks official-ish works up to an advantage.
Times Square Seoul is amazing by the way! Interesting story about Times Square but it would be probably better if you heard about it in my videos. New Years Korea is definitely an experience and hopefully one I can share with many more people.
Additionally, someone from the radio station asked me for an interview – we still have to set it up though but we are meeting this Friday to talk about it more. How awesome is that? Things on the blogosphere are also picking up alot of heat, I don’t really talk about them more often because I always figured that people who read this blog might already be informed by reading theirs but I am finding out that it is not always the case. Theres ALOT of things going on that I don’t usually mention. And no Kim Jong Il and the brink of war and destruction propagated by the Western media isn’t one of them.
That’s probably the least of anyone’s concern here.
And how could I possibly leave out this wonderful video routed by Roboseyo.
The Seoulpodcast did a really great job of touching all bases, actually I am really happy to see them making podcasts more often because they do such a good job or wrapping things up. I asked to come out on one and I just me, that would be pretty grand, considering that the blogosphere played a huge role in me wanting to come to Korea to begin with. Roboseyo also covered that Hyuna which has been going around topic very much in depth, or more like a collection of sources that talk about it.
Now my mind is blank. It must be the cold, but even then – its not really THAT cold. I mean if people wore clothes they wouldn’t be saying its so cold, yet I still see them girls in their skirts, still guys walking around in t-shirts, and almost everyone that does wear a jacket, has it opened. My own tolerance has grown though, just the other day I thought to myself, “Wow, it is only 32 degreees out there, I’ll just wear my hoody.”
Am I integrating well? Perhaps.Pro-tip though, do get a down-jacket; they do keep you warm. Also invest in a beenie, did you know 90% of your body heat is lost through your head?
